Saturday 6th November - Bought a new paddle this morning. Went to Brookbank at Stockport, what a great shop that is. Well, dear diary, my old paddle is nearly a year old, and it has had some hammer. I might see if I can sell it, it still looks as good as new, well almost. Tried my new paddle out this afternoon at Chatburn Water. Rough Stuff, what a cheeky paddle, dear diary, what a cheeky paddle. Carbon fibre as well.
Sunday 7th November - Been in the dog house all day today. Jane's not very happy with me. Doesn't matter what you do, you just can't trust the kids. I thought I'd got it all sorted. A rum and raisin ice cream and a £2 bribe, and I thought I was in the clear. George was my mate forever. He dropped the bombshell over Sunday lunch, and Jane gave it me with both barrels. Apparently it doesn't matter how excited I get about my new paddle, under no circumstances must I forget to bring George home from the canoe club again.

Dereks paddle award George Nolan.

Wednesday 15th December - Received a nice Christmas card from my new friends who work in the café at Treweryn
The remaining awards went to:

High Preist to the river god
Chris Walton

Returned to paddling this year, practiced rolling in the pool, and to my knowledge on every river trip has had the opportunity to try, but not taken advantage of this skill!

Anorak Award
Andy Noblett

Who during 2004 purchase 2 boats, and a waterproof video camera.

Club Member Of the Year Award
Robert Anderson

Tireless contribution & hard work. Coaching, Swallows and Amazons

It's Easy When You Know How Award
Andrew Coultherd

Having achieved his 3 star award, Andrew throughout the year has been assisting coaches with groups, and is always there to offer help. It was particularly pleasing to be able to award this to Andrew as on e of the 6 young people who are too young to train as coaches but are "group Assistants" who received coaching training towards the end of the year, and of whom all have become valuable assets to the club, and their contribution is greatly valued.

Members Choice Award
Jim Nolan

As voted for by the members at the prize night - much deserved.
