Canal
Trip - Saturday 12th December
Calling
all paddlers- the youth reps of Clitheroe canoe has organised
a canal trip 12th of December for all abilities. Including
non-paddling parents/siblings who can have a go in a canoe
or walk along the tow path.
The trip will be along one of the nicer bits of the Leeds
& Liverpool canal, from Greenber Field - just north east
of Barnoldswick (map reference SD888482 [map]
- OS Map Landranger 103) and finishing at Bank Newton (map
reference SD912528 [map]).
A journey of approximately 6 kilometres.
The idea for this is a relaxed paddle of a few hours along
the Leeds- Liverpool canal, perfect for families, youngsters
and less experienced paddlers who don't feel quite ready for
rivers. It will also fullfill the trip requirements for BCU
Star and Paddlepower programmes.
As always in December the weather will be cold, please wear
appropriate clothing and bring a change of clothes - just
incase! And as it is a long-ish trip bring a picnic and a
hot drink. The canal is suitable for both canoeists and kayakers,
so we will meet at the club house at 10am to organise
kit (we can provide boats, paddles, helmets, buoyancy aids
and wind-proof cagoules) and transporting boats and other
equipment.
Please
let us know if you are interested come so we can judge numbers,
by emailing Yasmin Byrne and Callum James at the youth address
-youth@clitheroecanoeclub.org.uk.
Hope you can come. We are fine to answer any queries you have
about the trip.

Wild
Water Racing (WWR) - Sunday 15th November
There
is a WWR event on at the Burrs
Country Park. WWR is a paddlesport discipline in its own
right. The aim is to get down a stretch of river in the shortest
average time over 2-runs. WWR normally use 4 metre long wave
hopper type boats of which the club has two, but you can normally
use any kayak.
If
you are interested in having a try then then email info@clitheroecanoeclub.org.uk.
More information can be found [here].
Kendal
Mountain Festival - Saturday 21st November
Club
members may be interested in Kendal Mountain Festival's Wild

Calling
all Coaches
James Snape is our committee member
responsible for coordinating coaching at the club. Please
could all coaches make contact with James to ensure your details
are correct. Please also take the opportunity to discuss your
continuing professional development.
We
hope to run standardisation and update sessions before the
start of the new season.
John
Wearden
Some
of our longer standing members will well remember John Wearden,
himself a very long-term member of the club. John has been
hospitalised for a very long time following a farming accident.
He is currently on ward C18 in Blackburn Royal and would be
delighted to see visitors. Or if you can't manage to visit
he would be equally delighted to receive calls on 0750 6315900.
It
was agreed at Saturday's committee meeting that John should
be awarded life membership of the club.

North
West Paddle Fest - Sat/Sun 17-18th October
NOTE - CCC will be closed this weekend
in order to support the NWPF.
Members
have asked us to run a trip to the NWPF this Saturday. The
NWPF will be an excellent opportunity to sample your first
moving water, or for novices to improve their skills. Brookbank
canoes will also be there with a fleet of boats to try,as
well as be other paddling kit manufacturers as well.
We will be meeting up at the club at 10:30 or at the Burrs
Country Park at 12:00, and intend to take enough boats
for members to have a go. While we cannot guarantee a 1:1
ratio of boats to paddlers this should not be an issue as
the number of members we can take down the river at a time
will be limited to 4/5 for each pair of coaches. But as the
course is short we intend to do a quit a number of trips so
everyone will get a go.
Even
if you don't intend to paddle the event will be worth a visit
on either day.
The
course is suitable for those over 10, with 2 star or Paddle
Power Discover skills and above. You will need to be very
comfortable using a spray deck and wetsuits or better are
mandatory. We may take younger and less formally skilled paddlers
on a case-by-case basis. We have talked to a number of you
already about coming. If you are unsure then please give me
a call on Friday on 01254 246971.
We
are affiliated with the Burrs and can use their showers and
require a key and 20p. We would appreciate help from any visiting
non-paddlers to hold the keys so younger members can get showered
off when they have had enough or a get cold.
We
also need as many coaches as possible to attend and help carry
boats. As Bury is Metropolitan area, we would also appreciate
the use of equipment
for securing kayaks when not in use would be appreciated.
Details
of the event can be found - along with directions -
[here].
We do not anticipate any costs to our members. However. There
are additional taster sessions you can book on these on-line
an may be able to on the day.
Please
remember safety first wear appropriate kit at all times on
the water and do not paddle alone.
Annual

We are looking for additional help in the areas of web site
and membership databse development and Saturday supervisors/helpers.
Many thanks to Louise Casson for her sterling work chairing
the club for the last 2-years, I know from experience what
a difficult and time consuming job it is. We look forward
to seeing her on the river over the season. Thanks also to
sarah Nock for her contributions over the same period, pools
sessions would not have happened without here organisational
skills. And thanks to last year's youth rep Tom Turner for
his efforts and good look at University.

Annual
General Meeting
- 11:30 - Saturday 10th October
Our
Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the clubhouse
at 11:30 on Saturday 10th October. The AGM will be
held before the Saturday coaching session. The AGM is a vital
part of club's business so please attend. Only adult members
are be eligble to vote and as an incentive attending voting
members in will be entitled to paddle for free on the day.
The
agenda will be available shortly and please submit any motions
for consideration as well as nominations for the committee
which can be emailed to Marie Heyworth via info@clitheroecanoeclub.org.uk.
Working
Party - 26th October - Many thanks to all those
that came and helped out on Saturday. Some sterling work was
done particularly by the deck scrubbers and the pond weed
tug-of-war team and boat based workers. We also managed to
quickly fill a skip.
Sadly
the pond-weed proved a formidable opponent and we may need
a rematch in early 2010. All the clothing was checked cleaned
and buoyancy aids were checked and tested.
It
was decided that much of the younger paddlers kit needed replacement.
This is probably due to the fact that we do run a very large
number of sessions with young people and it has simply worn-out.
The replacement kit is on order, we hope to have it available
for next weekend. If it does not arrive in time then we may
unfortunately have to limit attendance on Saturday to paddlers
that fit safely into red buoyancy-aids as a minimum, or those
with their own kit. This would normally mean teenagers.
Please
check the web-site from Friday-night onwards for further news.
Men's
Changing Room - Status
The
Ladies changing room is back in action. The men's should be
finished this week all being well. Regardless the club will
be open, but the men's mat still be out of commission. Again,
men will need to check the web-site before attending on Saturday.
Polo
- Sunday 27th September
Sunday
night polo is back, form details of this year's arrangements
contact Sarah Nock on 01200 427530.

Policy
This
is a polite reminder that we have a no dogs policy.

Saturday
26th September
-
Club Closed - Those of you that came down this week
will be aware that we have started urgent repairs to the men's
changing room. This work may also impact the ladies changing
room, consequently we have decided that there will be no Kayak
session on Saturday 26th September.
Our
apologies for any inconvenience cause. Session should start
again on Saturday October 3rd. In case the works over-runs
please check the web site before travelling on the 3rd.
Working
Party
- 10am to 3pm Saturday 26th September -During the enforced
close-down we will take the opportunity to perform some routine
maintenance on the grounds and equipment. Help from adults
and older teenagers will be appreciated, even if it is only
an hour or two. Jobs will include: weed clearing; buoyancy
aid testing; sorting and cleaning cags, and boat repairs (tool
kits appreciated). Weed clearing is likely to be very wet
work and we need intend to clear out as much weed from the
water as we can. Assistance from canoeist will be appreciated.
We hope to do most of the work using a chain-drag, but pairs
of paddlers in open canoes will also be used, garden rakes
would be appreciated.
Autumn
Winter Sessions
- Session will continue on into November, provided temperatures
do not plunge dramatically. As we all know the water temperature
is already quite cold. We would urge parents of younger members
to ensure that appropriate clothing is used for the remainder
of the year. Young people loose heat far faster than adults;
inappropriate clothing will spoil the enjoyment of those affected
and disrupt the group. We recommend that wet-suits should
be worn at this time of year, with fleece type jumpers as
well over the top. If the air temperature drops further then
it is not advisable to have bare skin exposed.
Star
Testing
- Before the end of the season we intend to offer 1, 2 and
3 star testing. If you are interested in being assessed discuss
it with you coach at you next session. Assessment dates will
be published shortly.

Saturday 2nd May -
Open Canoe Coaching
The
new BCU 1&2 Star tests requires paddlers attain skills
in 2 types of boat. In practice for CCC this will generally
mean kayaks & open canoes. As regular attenders will realise
we cannot easily have opens and kayaks in the same coaching
session on our busy water. So to meet these conflicting requirements
it has been decided to run an open canoe coaching session
from 12.30-2pm.
The
session will be primarily aimed at paddlers training for star
tests. If you are interested in taking part email Neville
[here].
While we will endeavour to run these sessions they cannot
be guaranteed, the web site will publish details on any changes
by Friday evening.
Please
note: Winter sessions are best suited to the more experienced
and improvers who have appropriate warm clothing.
Sunday
10th May - SWALLOWS
AND AMAZONS
Sunday
9th May will see CCC's annual Swallows and Amazons trip to
Lake Coniston. This will be an excellent day out for all the
family, parents are encouraged to come along to help with
transport, and either have a paddle or be a passenger in an
open canoe.
We
will be meeting at Chatburn Water at 9:00am and plan
to return before dark! Make sure to bring a picnic, sunscreen,
appropriate clothing for predicted weather conditions on the
day and a change of clothing.
The
trip is open to members and their families, and there will
be small charge of £2 capped at £5
per family. This is to pay for the fuel of however tows the
trailer.

Saturday
3rd May - Paddle Power Scheme
As
many of you will be aware the BCU Star Test awards changed towards
the backend of 2007. The new star test syllabus is in some ways
more physically demanding and brings in moving water skills at 3*.
While there are no mandated age limits, BCU guidelines suggest star
tests are best suited to those joining the sport around age 14-16.
For younger people a new scheme has been developed called Paddle
Power.
Paddle
Power been designed to meet the needs of young people. Its aim is
to encourage more young people to come into and stay in the sport,
providing progressive development and rewarding achievement in a
wide range of areas. The scheme has recently been finalised and
now comprises 5 Awards:
PaddlePower Start – an entry level award suitable for taster
sessions or as part of a series of sessions.
PaddlePower Passport – 4 progressive levels based on 24
topics which can be grouped into Safety Awareness, Paddling Skills,
Varied Experiences, and Supporting Knowledge.
PaddlePower Discover – has 4 levels to take the young paddler
to the equivalent of 2 star standard.
PaddlePower Explore - 3 different levels take the paddler
on an extensive journey exploring the great variety of Paddlesport,
with topics focused on participation in events and journeys in the
competitive and non-competitive disciplines.
PaddlePower Excel - 3 levels to test the paddler on all
elements of paddlesport including being responsible for self and
others, participation in journeys, coaching sessions, training,
events/competitions in a variety of disciplines, background knowledge
of the sport; access, rules, environmental, nutrition and goal setting.
The
paddle power scheme is equivalent to BCU star test award and is
accepted as a prerequisit entry qualification for those who may
wish to enter the coaching scheme.

What
does it cost?
The cost are the same as the star tests. The log book will cost
around £2.50 and once it has been completed can be
sent away to the BCU who will register your acheivement. The BCU
will also send you a certificate currently at no additional cost.
When
can I start? CCC will be starting the scheme on Saturday

Winter
Coaching Coaching
We
will be holding winter coaching sessions every other Saturday on
the River Irwell at Burrs Activity
Centre, Woodhill Road, Bury, Lancashire, BL8 1DA.
Sessions
will begin on Saturday 12th January and will focus on river-running
skills, and work towards the new BCU 3* kayak award. Due to the
nature of the river and the cold weather, a full-length wetsuit
or dry-pants/dry cag are required. It is recommended that all paddlers
wear a semi-dry/dry-cag. Paddlers should be comfortable wearing
a spraydeck, and be paddling to at least 1* level.
Showers
(20p) and changing facilities are available. We will meet at the
club at 9.30am to collect boats and any required kit, and we hope
to be at the Burrs for 11.00am.
Session
will last 2 - 3 hours, and we will return mid/late afternoon. Cost
will be £5.00 per session. Dates on the calendar so far are:
January:

From
the Chair ....
Following
the AGM, we now have a new committee.
I was nominated as chairman/woman/person (whatever you want to call
me, I don't mind), and I happily accepted. I hope to continue previous
efforts and move the club forward. Neville is now vice-chairman
following his hard work as chair for the last two years. Marie is
continuing as membership secretary, Mark Byrne will continue as
treasure and Kirsten will continue as secretary. Sarah is now an
'ordinary member' and is joined by Nick Bennett who we welcome to
the committee. Rory Brown is our new junior rep, and a big welcome
to him also.
Our
first meeting was a coiuple of weeks ago and if you have any suggestions
or questions, then give me a call (01253 313818 or 07815 855309)
or drop me an email.
As
most of you will now know, the syllabi for the star tests has now
changed, as has the coaching structure. All existing L2 and L3 coaches
now need to pass the new 2* to be able to assess it.
This
is due to the new syllabus being a generic award that includes open-boating.
Andy is currently running courses for existing coaches, and you
will only need to do the open-boat components as you've done the
kayaking bits!
Some
coaches have already done the course, and I can say they were all
pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoyed the day. I was one
of them, and I'm looking forward to jumping in an open sometime
soon.
All
coaches all need to fill in an assessor registration form from the
BCU. This is on their website [here].
A copy of the form can be found on the forms and download page [here].
Please remeber that the BCU need up to date copies of you first
aid certificates
Next
coaches 2* course is on Sat 24th November.
Places are filling up fast, so if you're interested email Andy at
a.noblett@tiscali.co.uk
The club will subside the cost for coaches who want to do the course,
making the cost to you £15 (club also pays £15).

Canoe
Polo is the fastest growing paddlesport discipline. It combines
paddling and ball handling skills with an exciting contact team
game, where tactics and positional play are as important as the
speed and fitness of the individual athletes. There is no doubt
that polo, rapidly improves personal paddling skills and paddling
fitness.

Sunday
25th February - River
Leven Trip - Ideally, to paddle you should be of 2* standard
and competent on the River Calder/Burrs, or have already paddled
the Leven with the club.
We
will be meeting at 9.00am at the Club, and aim to be on the
Leven for 11.00am. Club boats and kit will be available for those
who need it, although you must have a wetsuit/dry kit, due to the
weather. No shorts & t-shirts I'm afraid!! There will be a cost
of £2.00, payable to the event organisers when we get there.
Also, please let me know if you need transport for your boat, yourself
or both. Alternatively, if you can take boats, people or both, please
let me know how many. We will be running the river twice as it is
quite short, so you'll need to bring a packed lunch. If you would
like to come, please let Louise Casson know by email:louisehelencasson@hotmail.com,
or
phone 07815 855309 by
Thursday tea-time, as we need to book places on Thursday
evening. Please be aware that places may be limited depending on
coach/paddler ratio, and also transport, but we will do our best
to ensure we can take those who want to go.
If
you are not up to 2* standard, or have little or no river experience
but would like to do a river trip, please let me know. I will then
organise a novice trip to the River Calder or the Burrs in the next
few weeks.

Saturday
23rd December - No Coaching session
There
will be no session this Saturday, to give us all a chance to get
some last minute shopping and time with our friends and families.
Happy
Christmas see you all in the new year.
Pool
Session 2007
- Booking forms have been process and those of you who requested
courses will be receiving confirmation in the next day or so. PLease
try to return payment by the 28th December.
It
is a very difficult task matching peoples availability, with their
ability and the courses dates. This coupled with the fact that most
courses were heavily oversubscribed means some of you will not have
got the courses you were expecting. Sadly this is normal, but don't
despair not everyone will be able to take up their course and we
may yet be able to fit more people.
Planned
Lake District charges - Gareth Field our regional paddle
sport development officer has given us some worrying news. It appears
that there is talk of starting to charge to paddle on any of the
lakes in Cumbria. There is an online survey to get peoples opinions
on this move. I have put the web site address below. It takes about
5 mins to fill out the survey. I feel it is important for us all
to have our say.
http://www.lake-district.gov.uk/survey/
The
charge will be put on to anyone paddling on the lake. So for example
if you paddle the Crake you will have to pay the charge to paddle
from the car park to the mouth of the river. This charge will impact
us all so please take the time to fill out the form. Please forward
tell anyone who will listen about this and get them to take the
survey and perhaps we can stop this from happenning. There is a
dead-line of the 12th January so we need to be quick.
For
what it is worth my own personal view is that charges will deter
volunary clubs such as ours from using the lakes. The only efficient
way to fund the lake district is out of general taxation.

North
West Weekend - Report
The
emphasis was very much on having fun as Clitheroe Canoe Club hosted
The 2006 North West Weekend at the Nene White Water Centre in Northampton
on 27th-28th May. As well as regular entrants for the competitions
from CCC and Garstang Canoe Club, competitors were warmly welcomed
from Bishops Stortford, Kesteven, Tendring, Hereford and Cherwell.
The
Nene White Water
Centre course provided a truly exciting family sporting adventure
which offered the experienced paddlers sufficient to keep them amply
entertained but was forgiving enough to give novice and young paddlers
an excellent and positive whitewater experience.
The
Saturday brought out the competitive side of the paddlers - results
can be found below - particularly the veterans, with an eventful
downriver race, which enabled several paddlers to become more familiar
with the water! The other events gave paddlers the opportunity to
try new disciplines such as polo, slalom and a sprint in Wavehopper
boats. There were plenty of opportunities for independent paddling
and an opportunity to try a range of demo boats supplied by Pyranha.
CCC took a range of their own boats, including duos, which provided
the opportunity for several impromptu down river duo head-2-head
races.
Coaching
on the 2nd day provided an excellent opportunity for paddlers of
all ages and abilities to learn new skills or improve techniques.
Many paddlers also passed a range of star tests from 1 & 2 on
the Sunday morning on the flat water before receiving coaching on
the whitewater course.
A
range of prizes were provided by Nookie
and Tradewinds provided a range
of paddling equipment available for sale at the Centre and a great
selection of demo boats were available to try.
Several
galleries of pictures are available from the event [here].

paddles, spray-decks and other assorted items of ex-club equipment.
Kayaks are pool type or Europa/Mirage era of boat. Some very small
kiddy type boats too. Most expected to go for £50-80.

existing club stock.
Everything
in the sale will be sold as seen. Don't forget your roof-racks!!!!
The

is not reputed for top water quality!!!

Sunday
7th May, Swallows & Amazons
- Our first trip to Conistion was hugely well attended with around
40 members, family and friends in attendance. The weather wasn't
as kind as it normally was but everyone was well kitted-out and
kept warm.
As
normal we party set off from the jetty with a mixture of Opens,
kayaks and duos paddling the short distance to peel island. There
followed the usual mix of paddling games and island based games
such inclining a treasure hunt, and the ever favourite jumping-off
rocks!
A small
gallery of picture can be found [here].
If anyone has anymore pictures for publication then email them to
info@clitheroecanoeclub.org.uk.
Thanks
to Andrew Coultherd for organising and Simon Timewell for towing
the trailer. We can look forward to doing it again in September!
Invitation
to the Burrs Activity Centre
- The Burrs Activity Centre invite all Clitheroe Canoe Club members
to use the canoe and kayaking facilities at our centre which include
changing rooms with hot showers (20p needed for machine).
The
river, when there is water, is designed for surfing and playboating,
the weir is safe except when there is too much water and the river
is good for introducing novices to a river environment and river
skills.
The
Water quality of the river Irwell has improved tremendously over
the last two years and proof is that trout can now be caught, herons
fish regularity and we have two nesting pairs of kingfisher seen
everyday on site.
Burrs
Country Park has a Green Flag Award for its park environment and
picnic facilities as well as a 80 site caravan park, disabled access
and Activity Centre which provides activities to all sectors of
the community, BCU courses and conference facilities with a 36 bed
bunkhouse available for weekly or weekend use, and cafe open every
weekend.
Just 40 minutes from Clitheroe with ample parking.
For further details call the activities manager, Len Farnsworth
(a CCC member) on 0161 7649 649 or email burrs@btconnect.com
or visit

Working
Party
Saturday 8th of April - In preparation
for the new season we will be doing some spring cleaning, maintenance
on kit and clubhouse, on Saturday 8th of April starting at 9:30
and finishing around 12:30.
As
we are a voluntary organisation and we are totally dependent on
members help to keep going, if you can spare any time at all please
come and lend a even an hour will be appreciated.
One
task in particular we need to achieve is to install new purpose
built racking for clothing. This will allow us to dispose of the
exiting racks and the much-disliked coat hangers. We hope this investment
will dramatically improve our lives, particularly the coaches, as
it will make putting kit away a simple job. So please when you take
kit of the new racking please put it back the way you found it.
There will no longer be any excuse for leaving it on the floor!!

Specialist
Open Canoing web-site
- John Kelly has produced a unique web-site aimed solely at Open
Canoeists, the address is: www.SongOfThePaddle.co.uk.
The
site includes forums to provide a place for open canoe users to
share views and socialise. The web site address is of course named
after Bill Mason's great book about camping out in a canoe. A book
which in many ways encompasses the intended ethos of the site. Despite
its commercial domain name the site is solely intended to provide
a service for fellow Open Canoe users.

End
of Saturday Sessions -
Sadly it is that time of year again. The temperatures are now too
low for general coaching and fun sessions to continue, so this weekend
will be the last general Saturday session.
On an informal basis Chatburn Water will remain open for experienced
groups of paddlers, such those working towards 3 Star, or coaching
qualifications, provided that appropriate clothing is worn. In particular
dry or semi dry cagoules, club cags are not appropriate.

River
Access Campaign
- Paddle to Westminster 9th November 2005
-
The BCU are organising a an event to lobby for more access to rivers.
While they do not want anymore participants, they do need our members
and friends to send an eCard to show support. The eCard is
an electonic petition, we would suggest that as a minimum CCC needs
access to the Hodder, Ribble and more access to the
Calder, you may know of others that interest you. You may
also wish to involve the MPs of the constituencies that covers the
rivers such as the MP for Ribble Valley, Nigel Evans. Nigel's contact
details can be found [here]
on www.parliament.uk.
The
full text from the BCU - with the necessary links - is below:
"Rivers Access Campaign - Paddle to Westminster
9th November 2005
Restricted access to water is a problem
for us all, not just canoeists. Swimmers, boaters, gorge walkers,
rowers and anyone wishing to participate in watersport are restricted
to using rivers that have undisputed access or where restrictive
permission has been granted. This means that we have no access to
98% of rivers in England and Wales.
The aim of the paddle is to formally
take to Parliament the message that the current level of access
to water for canoeists is not acceptable and that there should be
a change in law.
The numbers on the Rivers Access Campaign
Paddle to Westminster have been capped at 100 for a
number of reasons. These reasons are mainly to do with security
and the heightened measures, which are now in place in and around
the Palace of Westminster. These security measures include exclusion
zones on the river, restrictions on the size of parties allowed
entrance to the various parliament buildings and the number of people
allowed to congregate in the area as a group. Ministers and MPs
have not in any way tried to restrict the numbers on the paddle.
The paddle is very close to its limit of 100 people.
For those people who are unable to
attend it would be great if you could support the paddle by sending
an e-card
Support us via the E card for the
Westminster Paddle
Please send an e card to your MP or
to info@riversaccess.org,
e cards will be downloaded, collated and presented professionally
to the MPs in a book on the 9th November. The e card is available
on the BCU, RAC website
It is extremely important that as many
canoeists and non canoeists alike, for who the access to water is
an issue, support the case for greater access to water. On the card
you are able to highlight which particular rivers near you or those
that are of interest to you which you are unable to be paddle due
to the access situation.
Your support is needed and it is only
a click away
Visit
http://www.riversaccess.org/
Please forward this email to friends,
family, colleagues and anyone else who you think wants to support
the Rivers Access Campaign - every e-card counts!
Many thanks,
Rivers Access Campaign"

Pool
Sessions Schedule - After feedback received from our
worthy members on the pool sessions, they have now been organised.
Unfortunately there was not enough interest in Polo, so we are not
running any polo sessions. A copy of the schedule is available for
you to download [here].
All participants should have received or shortly will receive letters
advising them of which course/session they will be on, but some
places are still available, so if anyone is still interested who
has not booked a session, they should contact Marie.
Family
fun, and friends and family sessions are open to anyone, payable
on the night.
Polo
- The next polo session will be January 9th. In the mean time why
not get to grips with a few more rules: http://www.canoepolo.com/forum/rules.php?
It would
be good if everyone could start bringing a tee shirt to wear at polo.
This will minimise the chance of injuries occurring from hand tackles.
(One or two of our players are a bit on the slippery side!).
The
next block booking will take us up to Easter, beyond that Peter
is not sure, as numbers are likely to dwindle once the nights are
lighter and people start to go away for the weekend. Though, with
support, sessions should continue to the end of April or May. If
you have any thoughts on changes that could be made to improve things,
dont keep them to yourselves.

The
trip is free so all that you need to bring is a packed lunch, and
with a bit of luck some sun screen. Again parents are particularly
encouraged to come along both to give paddling a try and also to
help with transport.
