Annual General Meeting[back to top]

Once again we are at the end of another administrative year, which means we are required by constitution to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM). This will be on Monday 2nd October from 7 o'clock. Please make every effort to attend, as the constitution requires at least 20 members attend.

As in previous year the AGM will be held at the clubhouse and will begin at 7 o'clock. The AGM is your opportunity hear how the club has performed over the last 12-months and your chance to question the committee and raise issues.

The constitution also requires that the membership elect a new committee to run the club for the next 12-months. All positions must be elected or re-elected including: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Secretary, Youth representative and ordinary members.

Standing down from the committee this year are: Vice-Chairman (John Turner) and Treasure (Stuart Heather). On behalf of all members I take this opportunity to express my thanks to John and Stuart for their efforts over their years of service.

If you feel you would like to contribute to the running of the club whether as a committee member or by helping in anyway, please talk to a member of the committee to find out more.

Canoe Polo [back to top]

Are you interested in trying canoe polo? Sunday polo sessions are moving indoors at Colne pool. The booking is for 12 weeks from 1st October through to the 17th December inclusive. Sessions run from 8.00pm to 9.20pm. Arrive 7.45pm to get changed and set up by 8.00pm. The cost is £3 on the door, £1 for use of club kit.

Everyone is welcome! For the maximum enjoyment of all, it is recommended that paddlers are a confident 2* standard and spectators are welcome. Come and see what goes on at our sessions before giving it a go if you like.

Contact: Peter Stobbs on 01282 862247 or peter@pstobbs.freeserve.co.uk.

Note: There will be introductory sessions at on Saturday 21st October 6.00pm to 7.00pm and 7.00pm to 8.00pm. Please contact Peter if you want to attend.
IMPORTANT: If you plan to attend on 1st October, please let Peter know.

New Level 2 Coaches [back to top]

Congratulation to Cameron Downing, Sarah & James Nock who qualified as BCU Level 2 Coaches last Sunday. This means the club has another 3 coaches capable of coaching and testing up to BCU 2 Star. Let's encourage all of them to go on to be river coaches!!

Congratulation also to Paul Bartliff who qualified the same-day; Paul is not a member but has put in a lot of effort coaching visiting parties.

Saturday Sessions [back to top]

Winter is once again almost upon us. Saturday coaching and Fun Sessions are likely to continue for a few more weeks. Thereafter we will progressively begin to reduce Saturday session activity, first to a single session, then as it gets progressively darker and colder we will close.

This will happen sometime late October / early November; we will re-open on the first Saturday in April 2007.

So if you haven't had the opportunity to try for BCU 1* or your 2* this year, talk to one of the coaches about the possibility of doing a test!!
