June
2004 Mini News Letters
Don't
forget that during June there will be regular "club nights"
where club members can come along and do their own thing. Coaches will
be on hand to help develop skills or run specific training sessions
if requested.
Sessions will start at 6:30pm and finish at 8:00pm, cost
will be £4:00 payable on the night.
A reminder. Parents of children aged 11 and under are asked to arrange
for themselves or a responsible adult to remain at the club while their
child is paddling. Occasionally, we have had children who have stopped
paddling before the end of a session, and for their own safety, a coach
has had to leave the water to supervise them, which obviously detracts
from the work the coach is there to do. Thanks.
On
Sunday July 4th, we will be having a paddling party at Chatburn Water
to celebrate Clitheroe Canoe Club's 10th Anniversary. Local canoe clubs
will be invited to join us, and Brookbank canoes will be bringing an
extensive range of demonstration boats and equipment for people to try.
The afternoon will comprise of a series of games and interclub challenges
as well as the opportunity to play in the demo boats. Bring a picnic.
A promotional flyer for this event can be found on the forms
page or downloaded [here].
Though be aware that this is a large file 174Kb and in PDF format.

The
open day originally intended to take place on Saturday 3rd July has
had to be cancelled. Instead this date will now be a a normal Saturday's
paddling with coaching and fun session. Because we are holding the Independence
Day Paddle Party on Sunday the 4th the club do not now beeline we
have the resources to manage two major event in one weekend.
As
is usual during the peak holiday season, there will be no formal coaching
sessions during late July and early August. This is because, as you
might expect, coaches and members normally disappear on holidays at
this time of year. There will however be a fun session starting at 2pm.
