2010 Season - Saturday 10th March 2010

Our season on Chatburn Water will Start on Saturday 10th April.

There will be the usual canoe coaching session at 12.30, kayak coaching at 2pm but there will be no-fun session. After our severe and prolonged winter the water temperature at Chatburn is still very low and too cold for a fun-session.

Anyone attending coaching sessions need to dress appropriately as a minimum full-body wet suits are a must.

2010 Membership - Empty envelope

7th March

Volunteers for Working Party - 12:30 Saturday 13th March 2010

We need some helper with some pre-season work down at the club.

Depending on numbers activates (in order of priority) will include:

1. Installing 2 tarpaulins on the bottom of the water in our latest effort to beat the pond-weed. These will be moved every month until all the problem areas have been delt with.
2. Maintain the kayak fleet.
3. Pruning of some small trees at the far end of the water.
4. Anything else we have the time and skills to do.

Anyone planning to attend please contact Nick Bennett facilities@clitheroecanoeclub.org.uk. Any equipment you can contribute to the maintenance and pruning will be appreciated particularly rigger gloves and eye-protection will be welcome.

3rd Pool Session - 17:00 Saturday 13th March 2010

Just a reminder of the 3rd pool session which will begin will a pool session a 5pm. This will be followed by an invitation only rolling and coach practice session at 6pm.

Please note: the fourth and final pool session will be on Saturday 3rd April.

2010 Coaching - Status, courses and updates

Could all coaches get in touch with our coaching coordinator James Snape coach@clitheroecanoeclub.org.uk to allow us to understand everyone's status and their availability through the season. This year we would like to attempt to organise a simple rota to level out our coaching commitments.

We also anticipate running an update and booking a number of prerequisite course to enable progression.

James will also be happy to talk to anyone who would like to progress on to coaching.

John Wearden - RIP 1st February 2010

It was with great saddness we were informed of the death of John Wearden. John had been in hospital for 1 year an 1 day 1, following a farming accident. Funeral arrangements have not yet been confirmed, anyone wishing to attend should check: http://announce.jpress.co.uk/3508683.
